summary
The God who rises against darkness still carries the weary every day.
lyrics
Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered; Let those who hate Him flee before Him. As smoke is driven away, so drive them away; As wax melts before the fire, So let the wicked perish at the presence of God. But let the righteous be glad; Let them rejoice before God— Yes, let them exceedingly rejoice. Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Extol Him who rides on the clouds— By His name Jah—and rejoice before Him. A father to the fatherless, A defender of widows, Is God in His holy habitation. God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those bound with chains— But the rebellious dwell in a dry land. O God, when You went forth before Your people, When You marched through the wilderness, Selah, The earth shook, the heavens also dropped At the presence of God—even Sinai was moved At the presence of God, the God of Israel. You, O God, sent a plentiful rain; You confirmed Your inheritance when it was weary. Your congregation dwelt in it; You, O God, prepared of Your goodness for the poor. The Lord gave the word; Great was the company of those who proclaimed it. Kings of armies fled in haste, And she who remained at home divided the spoil. Though you lie among the campfires, Yet you will be like the wings of a dove covered with silver, Her feathers with yellow gold. When the Almighty scattered kings in it, It was white as snow in Zalmon. The mountain of God is like the mountain of Bashan, A high mountain like the mountain of Bashan. Why do you gaze in envy, O high mountains? This is the mountain God desires to dwell in— Yes, the Lord will dwell in it forever. The chariots of God are twenty thousand, Even thousands upon thousands; The Lord is among them as in Sinai, in the holy place. You have ascended on high; You have led captivity captive; You have received gifts for men— Yes, even from the rebellious— That the Lord God might dwell among them. Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits, The God of our salvation. Selah.

Psalm 68A: Let God Arise
When you need to remember — that You're still my Shepherd.
What's Going On…
Some days you feel surrounded and drained at the same time. You are asking God to deal with what is hostile around you, but you are also carrying quiet fatigue inside you that nobody sees. You need God to move.
You also see lonely people, overlooked people, and weary people everywhere, and you wonder if God is still actively caring in real time.
What It Means
This one opens with force: "Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered." Evil is named directly. But right beside that strength is deep compassion — He is a father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, and the One who sets solitary people in family. He confronts darkness and gathers the vulnerable.
Then it remembers how He leads through wilderness, sends rain on what is weary, and provides goodness for the poor. The closing anchor is practical and daily: "Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits." He is present help, carrying people day by day.
Two images in this opening do heavy lifting. First, the dissolving of evil: "As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God." What looks solid in opposition is actually fragile in His presence. Then the picture of His care is deeply specific: "God sets the solitary in families: He brings out those which are bound with chains." He is specific about who He gathers. And when wilderness threatens to drain you, this verse holds: "You, O God, did send a plentiful rain, whereby You confirmed Your inheritance, when it was weary." Tired people get rain from Him on purpose.
Right Here, Right Now
• Right now, bring one place of opposition and one place of personal weariness to God, and ask Him to arise in both.
• Write this down: "Where do I need to trust God as both strong against evil and tender toward weakness?"
• Repeat this line when you feel outnumbered or tired: "Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits."
Selah
Stop. Breathe. Let His strength meet your fight and His compassion meet your fatigue, then tell Him exactly where you need Him to arise — out loud if you can.
Prayer
God, arise in the places that feel hostile, heavy, and bigger than me.
Be my defender where I feel pressured, and my Father where I feel alone.
Thank You that You care for the forgotten and do not ignore the weary.
Send Your help into what has worn me down, and steady me with Your daily mercy.
Teach me to rejoice in You while I wait, because You still move and You still carry.
You're still my Shepherd.
Stay Strong
The God who rises against darkness still carries the weary every day.
