Praise is receiving strength from the One who fights for you.

lyrics

He who is our God is the God of salvation;
And to God the Lord belong escapes from death.
But God will wound the head of His enemies,
The hairy scalp of him who goes on in his trespasses.
The Lord said, “I will bring them back from Bashan;
I will bring My people again from the depths of the sea,
That your foot may be dipped in the blood of your enemies,
And the tongue of your dogs in the same.”

They have seen Your processions, O God—
The processions of my God, my King, in the sanctuary.
The singers went before, the musicians followed after;
Among them were the maidens playing timbrels.
Bless God in the congregations,
The Lord, from the fountain of Israel.
There is little Benjamin with their ruler,
The princes of Judah and their council,
The princes of Zebulun and the princes of Naphtali.

Your God has commanded your strength;
Strengthen, O God, what You have wrought for us.
Because of Your temple at Jerusalem
Kings will bring presents to You.
Rebuke the company of spearmen,
The multitude of bulls with the calves of the peoples,
Until every one submits himself with pieces of silver;
Scatter the peoples who delight in war.
Princes will come out of Egypt;
Ethiopia will soon stretch out her hands to God.

Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth;
O sing praises to the Lord. Selah.
To Him who rides on the ancient heavens of heavens—
Behold, He sends out His voice, a mighty voice.
Ascribe strength to God;
His excellence is over Israel,
And His strength is in the clouds.
O God, You are awesome from Your holy places;
The God of Israel gives strength and power to His people.
Blessed be God.

Psalm 68B: Blessed Be God

When you need to remember — that You're still my Shepherd.

What's Going On…

You can feel the tension of living between battles and worship. One part of your life still feels contested, loud, and unresolved, while another part knows you are supposed to praise. Sometimes that split makes praise feel forced, even when your heart wants to be sincere. You also carry a deep need for real strength to keep walking faithfully when opposition is real and peace feels fragile.

What It Means

This one holds victory language and worship language together. It declares that God is the One who saves and delivers from death, and it openly asks Him to confront violent evil. He moves against what destroys people. Then the center of gravity moves to gathered praise: processions, singers, congregations, kingdoms called to sing, and the repeated call to ascribe strength to God. The closing line is both celebration and lifeline: "The God of Israel gives strength and power to His people. Blessed be God." This is worship that knows where strength actually comes from. There is a line worth pausing on: "Unto God the Lord belong the issues from death." Every exit from death — every recovery, every rescue, every resurrection hope — runs through Him. That is why praise can stand inside grief. Then the king-language widens the room: "Sing unto God, you kingdoms of the earth." Whole kingdoms are invited. And one verse names the posture for everyone watching: "Ascribe strength unto God: His excellency is over Israel, and His strength is in the clouds." Ascribing strength to God is correctly assigning credit. Even what feels contested in your life belongs in that accounting.

Right Here, Right Now

• Right now, bring one active struggle to God, then intentionally thank Him out loud for one way He has already sustained you. • Write this down: "Where am I using praise as a mask instead of as dependence?" • Repeat this line when you feel depleted: "The God of Israel gives strength and power to His people."

Selah

Stop. Breathe. Let praise rise out of your need for strength, then tell Him exactly where you need His power to carry you — out loud if you can.

Prayer

God, blessed be Your name, because You are still my salvation and strength. You see what is still contested in my life, and You are not indifferent to what threatens peace. Strengthen what You have already started in me, and keep me from collapsing into fear or numbness. Teach me to praise You from dependence, not performance, while I wait for full breakthrough. Give me real power for today, and let my life point back to You. You're still my Shepherd.

Stay Strong

Praise is receiving strength from the One who fights for you.
