summary

Resting in Him steadies you when fretting would only burn you out.

lyrics

Do not fret because of evildoers,
Nor be envious of those who do wrong;
For they will soon be cut down like the grass
And wither like the green herb.

Trust in the Lord and do good;
Dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Delight yourself in the Lord,
And He will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him,
And He will make it happen.
He will bring forth your righteousness like the dawn,
And your justice like the noonday sun.

Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him;
Do not fret because of the one who prospers in his way,
Because of the man who carries out wicked schemes.
Cease from anger and forsake wrath;
Do not fret—it only leads to evil.
For evildoers will be cut off,
But those who wait on the Lord will inherit the earth.

Yet a little while, and the wicked will be no more;
Though you look carefully for his place, it will not be found.
But the meek will inherit the earth
And delight themselves in abundant peace.

Psalm 37A: Rest and Wait

When you need to remember — that You're still my Shepherd.

What's Going On…

It is hard not to spiral when people doing wrong seem to win. You watch shortcuts get rewarded, integrity get ignored, and your mind starts burning with comparison, frustration, and quiet anger. You try to stay grounded, but your heart still won't rest. You want justice, but you also want peace. And most days it feels like those two things are at war inside you.

What It Means

This one keeps repeating a hard command because we need it repeated: do not fret. Not because evil is not real, but because fretting reshapes you into the very thing you hate. "Cease from anger, forsake wrath... it only leads to evil." The opening line is plain: "Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb." Tall today, gone tomorrow. The frame is set early so envy does not get to grow roots. Most fretting is just envy that has not been named yet. Then it gives a better path: "Trust in the Lord, and do good… Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass… Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him." Those are not passive words. They are active surrender when outcomes feel unfair. The promise is steady: "He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday." Schemes that look unstoppable now are temporary. "The meek shall inherit the earth and delight themselves in abundant peace." God's timeline may feel slow, but it is not absent.

Right Here, Right Now

• Phone face-down for one minute, breathe slow, and pray: "I choose trust over fretting." • Write this down: "Where has comparison been stealing my peace and shaping my reactions?" • Repeat this line when injustice feels loud: "Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him."

Selah

Stop. Breathe. Let His pace interrupt your internal panic, then tell Him exactly where fretting has been eating your peace — out loud if you can.

Prayer

God, I confess how quickly I fret when I see wrong people prospering. My anger rises fast, and I do not want it to turn me bitter or reactive. Teach me to trust You, do good, and stay steady while I wait for You to act. Help me delight in You more than I obsess over what looks unfair. Settle me in Your peace and make me patient without making me passive. You're still my Shepherd.

Stay Strong

Resting in Him steadies you when fretting would only burn you out.
