summary
You are not unprotected in the noise — He still knows how to hide and strengthen you.
lyrics
Make Your face to shine upon Your servant Save me for Your mercies' sake Let me not be ashamed, O Lord For I have called upon You Let the wicked be ashamed And let them be silent in the grave Let the lying lips be put to silence Which speak grievous things proudly And contemptuously against the righteous Oh how great is Your goodness Which You have laid up for those who fear You Which You have wrought for those who trust in You Before the sons of men You shall hide them in the secret of Your presence From the pride of man You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion From the strife of tongues Blessed be the Lord For He has shown me His marvelous kindness In a strong city For I said in my haste I am cut off from before Your eyes Nevertheless You heard the voice of my supplications When I cried unto You O love the Lord, all you His saints For the Lord preserves the faithful And plentifully rewards the proud doer Be of good courage And He shall strengthen your heart All you who hope in the Lord

Psalm 31B: Hidden in His Presence
When you need to remember — that You're still my Shepherd.
What's Going On…
You can be in a crowded place and feel exposed. One comment, one rumor, one sharp conversation can make you feel like everyone has access to your peace. You start shrinking, overexplaining, or guarding every word because you are tired of being misunderstood.
Then there is the private fear underneath it all: what if even God is far from you? What if you are cut off and on your own in the noise?
What It Means
This passage moves from pressure to shelter without pretending the pressure is all in your mind. It names lying lips, pride, and the strife of tongues, then answers with a different reality: "Oh how great is Your goodness" and "You shall hide them in the secret of Your presence." That is not escapism. That is protection in the middle of human chaos. The hiding place is not somewhere else; it is somewhere with Him. "You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues." Even when words are still flying outside, He builds quiet rooms inside.
It also gives language for your emotional whiplash: "I said in my haste, I am cut off from before Your eyes; nevertheless You heard the voice of my supplications when I cried out to You." That line is mercy for anxious conclusions. You can panic and still be heard. The close is direct and steady: "Oh, love the Lord, all you His saints! For the Lord preserves the faithful... Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the Lord." Notice the order — love Him, stay courageous, keep hoping, and the strengthening follows. Strength is not the prerequisite for hope; hope is the soil that strength grows in.
Right Here, Right Now
• Take a moment right now and pray: "Hide me in the secret of Your presence."
• Write this down: "Where has the strife of tongues been stealing my peace?"
• Repeat this line when your chest tightens: "Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart."
Selah
Stop. Breathe. Let His hiddenness and His kindness settle where you feel exposed, then tell Him exactly where words have been wounding you — out loud if you can.
Prayer
God, I feel exposed and worn down by noise, opinions, and sharp words.
I confess how quickly I panic and assume I am cut off from You.
Hide me in the secret of Your presence and guard my heart from fear and bitterness.
Silence what is false, and keep me faithful and clean in how I respond.
Strengthen my heart to hope in You again, right here in the middle of this.
You're still my Shepherd.
Stay Strong
You are not unprotected in the noise — He still knows how to hide and strengthen you.
