summary

Confession does not crush you in His hands — it clears the way for mercy to hold you.

lyrics

Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven
Whose sin is covered

Blessed is the one unto whom the Lord imputes no iniquity
And in whose spirit there is no guile

When I kept silence, my bones grew old
Through my groaning all the day long

For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me
My moisture turned into the drought of summer
Selah

I acknowledged my sin to You
And my iniquity I did not hide
I said, I will confess my transgressions to the Lord
And You forgave the iniquity of my sin
Selah

For this shall every one that is godly
Pray to You in a time when You may be found
Surely in the floods of great waters
They shall not come near him

You are my hiding place
You shall preserve me from trouble
You shall surround me with songs of deliverance
Selah

I will instruct you and teach you
In the way you should go
I will guide you with My eye

Be not like the horse or like the mule
Which have no understanding
Whose mouth must be held with bit and bridle
Lest they come near you

Many sorrows shall be to the wicked
But he who trusts in the Lord
Mercy shall surround him

Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous
And shout for joy
All you upright in heart

Psalm 32: Songs of Deliverance

When you need to remember — that You're still my Shepherd.

What's Going On…

You can carry guilt so long it starts feeling normal. You keep moving, keep smiling, keep showing up, but inside you feel heavy and dry. You replay what you did, what you hid, what you should have said, and it wears on you quietly all day. The hardest part is the silence. You know you need to bring it into the light, but confession feels risky. So you stall, and the weight keeps growing.

What It Means

This one tells the truth about both sides of that silence. "When I kept silence, my bones grew old... Your hand was heavy upon me." That is what unconfessed sin does: it drains joy, dries out your spirit, and turns your inside world into drought. Then the turn comes fast and clear: "I acknowledged my sin... I did not hide... and You forgave." No long probation. No spiritual maze. Honest confession meets real mercy. From there, the tone shifts to safety and direction: "You are my hiding place... You shall preserve me... You shall surround me with songs of deliverance." You are not only forgiven; you are guided and kept. There is also instruction tucked in: "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. Do not be like the horse or like the mule, which have no understanding, which must be harnessed with bit and bridle." Mercy is not a permission slip to drift again. The same God who hides you also wants to lead you. The closing line balances both sides without softening either: "Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; but he who trusts in the Lord, mercy shall surround him." Not "mercy may visit." Mercy surrounds. Like air. Like presence. Like a shield you did not earn.

Right Here, Right Now

• Take five quiet minutes right now and confess one specific thing to God without softening it. • Write this down: "What am I still hiding that is keeping me spiritually exhausted?" • Repeat this line when shame starts closing in: "You are my hiding place."

Selah

Stop. Breathe. Let conviction and mercy meet in the same breath, then tell Him plainly what you have been hiding — out loud if you can.

Prayer

God, I am tired of carrying what I should have confessed sooner. I do not want to hide behind excuses, fear, or image anymore. I acknowledge my sin to You, and I ask for Your mercy and cleansing. Be my hiding place and preserve me from sinking back into the same patterns. Guide me with Your eye and surround me with songs of deliverance as I walk honestly with You. You're still my Shepherd.

Stay Strong

Confession does not crush you in His hands — it clears the way for mercy to hold you.
