lyrics
In You, O Lord, do I put my trust Let me never be ashamed Deliver me in Your righteousness Bow down Your ear to me Deliver me speedily Be my strong rock A house of defense to save me For You are my rock and my fortress Therefore for Your name's sake Lead me and guide me Pull me out of the net That they have laid secretly for me For You are my strength Into Your hand I commit my spirit You have redeemed me O Lord God of truth I have hated those who regard lying vanities But I trust in the Lord I will be glad and rejoice in Your mercy For You have considered my trouble You have known my soul in adversities And have not shut me up Into the hand of the enemy You have set my feet in a large room Have mercy upon me, O Lord For I am in trouble My eye is consumed with grief Yes, my soul and my body For my life is spent with grief And my years with sighing My strength fails because of my iniquity And my bones are consumed I was a reproach among all my enemies But especially among my neighbors And a fear to my acquaintances Those who saw me outside fled from me I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind I am like a broken vessel For I have heard the slander of many Fear was on every side While they took counsel together against me They devised to take away my life But I trusted in You, O Lord I said, You are my God My times are in Your hand Deliver me from the hand of my enemies And from those who persecute me

Psalm 31A: My Times Are in Your Hand
When you need to remember — that You're still my Shepherd.
What's Going On…
There are seasons when your strength quietly runs out. Your eyes ache, your body feels spent, and your years start to feel like one long sigh. You are not in a single crisis — you are just worn down from grief that has lasted longer than you expected.
Even people who used to be near can start to feel far. You do not need a fix; you need to know your time has not slipped out of God's hand, even when it has slipped out of yours.
What It Means
This one is both panic and trust in the same breath. It opens with refuge language, asks for quick rescue, and then keeps naming the strain: grief in the eyes, strength draining out, slander all around, fear on every side. Nothing is cleaned up for religious effect. He even names how exhaustion eats at the body: "My life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing; my strength fails because of my iniquity, and my bones waste away." Few prayers admit this much.
Earlier in the prayer the same surrender shows up in compressed form: "Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O Lord God of truth." One sentence offered before the rescue arrives. That single line outlives the moment — Jesus prayed it from the cross. It is what trust sounds like when there is nothing left to manage but everything left to entrust. Right in the middle comes a hard, steady turn: "But I trusted in You... You are my God... my times are in Your hand." That is not avoidance of danger. That is surrender in the middle of it. He asks to be pulled out of hidden nets and kept from enemy hands, while still choosing mercy over despair. What holds him steady is not his circumstances — it is the God who sees his trouble and gives him room to stand.
Right Here, Right Now
• Right now, pray one honest line with no filter, in your own words: "Pull me out of the net they have laid for me, for You are my strength."
• Write this down: "Where do I feel trapped, exposed, or paranoid right now?"
• Repeat this line when fear spikes: "My times are in Your hand."
Selah
Stop. Breathe. Name the fear and trust Him anyway, then tell Him exactly where you feel cornered right now — out loud if you can.
Prayer
God, I come to You shaky, not strong.
You see the pressure, the fear, and the grief I keep trying to carry quietly.
Pull me out of every hidden net and steady me where I feel exposed.
Teach me to trust You when I cannot control what people do around me.
My times are in Your hand, so hold me there and keep me from giving in to panic.
You're still my Shepherd.
Stay Strong
When life feels unsafe, His hand is still the safest place to be.
