You are not lost in the valley — you are led through it.
lyrics
The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want He makes me lie down in green pastures He leads me beside still waters He restores my soul He leads me in paths of righteousness For His name’s sake Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil For You are with me Your rod and Your staff They comfort me You prepare a table before me In the presence of my enemies You anoint my head with oil My cup overflows Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever

Psalm 23: The Lord Is My Shepherd
When you need to remember — that You're still my Shepherd.
What's Going On…
Some days you are not in crisis, just tired in your bones. Your mind has been on high alert, your heart feels overworked, and even good things feel heavy. You want rest, but you do not know how to stop bracing.
Other days feel darker. You are walking through something you did not choose, and fear keeps whispering that you are alone in it. You need more than advice — you need presence.
What It Means
This begins with identity before circumstance: "The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want." Not "I have no problems," but "I am not abandoned." He leads, restores, and guides with purpose. Green pastures and still waters are not fantasy language — they are a picture of real care for a soul that has been running too hard.
Then comes the line people hold in pain: "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me." The comfort is not the valley disappearing. The comfort is that you do not walk it alone. Rod and staff mean protection and direction at the same time.
Before that ending, one more image steadies you: "You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over." Even surrounded by what threatens, He is hosting. Not after the danger leaves — in front of it. And it ends with stubborn confidence: goodness and mercy will follow you, and your home is with Him forever. Notice the verbs — "follow" and "dwell." Pursued by goodness. Settled with God. That is not just survival language. That is the language of belonging.
Right Here, Right Now
• Take five slow breaths right now and pray this line out loud: "You are with me."
• Write this down: "Where do I need to stop bracing and let God shepherd me today?"
• Repeat this line when fear rises: "I will fear no evil, for You are with me."
Selah
Stop. Breathe. Let these words settle your nervous system, then tell Him exactly where you need His presence in the valley right now — out loud if you can.
Prayer
God, I am tired of carrying everything like I am alone.
Lead me where I can actually rest, not just numb out for a minute.
Restore my soul where fear and stress have worn me thin.
Walk with me through this valley and keep me from giving fear the final word.
Thank You that Your goodness and mercy are still following me, even here.
You're still my Shepherd.
Stay Strong
You are not lost in the valley — you are led through it.
