summary

The earth itself is preparing to roar His praise — your voice is part of that.

lyrics

O sing to the Lord a new song;
Sing to the Lord, all the earth.
Sing to the Lord, bless His name;
Proclaim His salvation from day to day.
Declare His glory among the nations,
His marvelous works among all peoples.

For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised;
He is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the peoples are idols,
But the Lord made the heavens.
Honor and majesty are before Him;
Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.

Give to the Lord, O families of the peoples,
Give to the Lord glory and strength.
Give to the Lord the glory due His name;
Bring an offering and come into His courts.
O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness;
Tremble before Him, all the earth.

Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns!”
The world also is firmly established;
It shall not be moved.
He shall judge the peoples righteously.
Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad;
Let the sea roar, and all its fullness.
Let the field be joyful, and all that is in it;
Then all the trees of the woods will rejoice
Before the Lord.
For He is coming,
For He is coming to judge the earth.
He shall judge the world with righteousness,
And the peoples with His truth.

Psalm 96: Sing To The Lord

When you need to remember — that You're still my Shepherd.

What's Going On…

You can offer the same praise to God for years and feel it go thin — because your way of carrying it has gotten predictable. You are bored with the old version of how you have been worshiping, and you can feel something fresher wanting to come up if you would let it. There is also something larger calling. Worship was never supposed to stay inside your headphones. It was always meant to be declared out where other people could hear it.

What It Means

The opening is a call out of routine: "O sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, bless His name; proclaim His salvation from day to day." Fresh praise. Daily declaration. Not memorized, not tired — alive. Then it widens fast: "Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous works among all peoples." The audience is the whole earth. He is "great and greatly to be praised" and "to be feared above all gods." The other gods of the peoples are idols — but He made the heavens. Then the call gets physical: "Give to the Lord glory and strength. Give to the Lord the glory due His name; bring an offering and come into His courts. O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness; tremble before Him, all the earth." The close turns the camera up to creation itself joining in: "Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar... let the field be joyful... then all the trees of the woods will rejoice before the Lord. For He is coming to judge the earth. He shall judge the world with righteousness." Worship is also anticipation — He is coming.

Right Here, Right Now

• Right now, sing or speak one line of praise that is not a recycled phrase — make it specific to what you actually see in Him today. • Write this down: "What old version of worship has been keeping me from the fresh praise He wants to lift out of me?" • Repeat this line when the room feels small: "Say among the nations, 'The Lord reigns!'"

Selah

Stop. Breathe. Picture fields and trees and seas joining in worship around you, then tell Him what fresh declaration is rising in you — out loud if you can.

Prayer

God, lift fresh praise out of me, because I have been recycling the old until it feels thin. You are great and greatly to be praised — and I want to declare that out where other people can hear it. Make my mouth honest about Your glory among the nations and not just inside my own head. Let me tremble before You in the beauty of holiness, because You are not the same as the idols around me. You are coming to judge the earth in righteousness — let that hope shape how I worship today. You're still my Shepherd.

Stay Strong

The earth itself is preparing to roar His praise — your voice is part of that.
