The covenant He made does not unravel because of who you have been on your worst day.
lyrics
Then You spoke in vision to Your holy one and said: “I have laid help upon one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people. I have found David My servant; With My holy oil I have anointed him. With whom My hand shall be established; My arm also shall strengthen him. The enemy shall not outwit him, Nor the son of wickedness afflict him. I will beat down his foes before his face And plague those who hate him. But My faithfulness and My mercy shall be with him, And in My name his horn shall be exalted.” I will also set his hand in the sea And his right hand in the rivers. He shall cry to Me, ‘You are my Father, my God, And the rock of my salvation.’ Also I will make him My firstborn, Higher than the kings of the earth. My mercy I will keep for him forevermore, And My covenant shall stand fast with him. His seed also I will make endure forever, And his throne as the days of heaven. If his children forsake My law And do not walk in My judgments, If they break My statutes And do not keep My commandments, Then I will punish their transgression with the rod And their iniquity with stripes. Nevertheless My lovingkindness I will not utterly take from him, Nor allow My faithfulness to fail. My covenant I will not break, Nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips. Once I have sworn by My holiness That I will not lie to David. His seed shall endure forever, And his throne as the sun before Me. It shall be established forever like the moon, And as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah.

Psalm 89B: I Have Exalted One Chosen Out of the People
When you need to remember — that You're still my Shepherd.
What's Going On…
You can feel like your standing with God depends on your performance staying high. So when you slip, you brace for the floor to drop. You do not want to test mercy; you also do not want to live like every fall ends the relationship.
Underneath that anxiety is a hope you almost do not let yourself believe: that the covenant is not built on you. That what He swore He keeps, even when your behavior does not.
What It Means
This one is God's first-person promise, spoken about David but holding a principle that anyone in covenant with God can hear: "I have laid help upon one who is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people. I have found David My servant." He picked. He anointed. He committed.
Then comes the line that should slow you down: "If his children forsake My law and do not walk in My judgments, if they break My statutes and do not keep My commandments, then I will punish their transgression with the rod and their iniquity with stripes. Nevertheless My lovingkindness I will not utterly take from him, nor allow My faithfulness to fail."
There it is. Discipline does not equal abandonment. Correction does not equal rejection. He is honest that breaking statutes has consequences — but His covenant does not unravel because of human failure. "My covenant I will not break, nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips. Once I have sworn by My holiness that I will not lie to David." The faithfulness is anchored in His own holiness, His own word, His own commitment to keep promises He made when nobody was watching.
Right Here, Right Now
• Right now, name one place where you have been bracing for God to give up on you — and bring it to the One whose covenant does not break.
• Write this down: "Where am I treating discipline like rejection?"
• Repeat this line when you fear you have used up His patience: "My covenant I will not break."
Selah
Stop. Breathe. Let the difference between discipline and abandonment settle in your heart, then tell Him exactly where you need to be reminded the covenant is His — out loud if you can.
Prayer
God, You have not walked away even when I assumed You had every right to.
You exalt the ones You choose, not because they earned it, but because You committed to them.
Discipline me where I need it, and keep me from confusing Your correction with rejection.
Your lovingkindness is not on a leash that I can yank loose by my failure.
Anchor me in the truth that Your covenant rests on Your holiness, not on my consistency.
You're still my Shepherd.
Stay Strong
The covenant He made does not unravel because of who you have been on your worst day.
