You do not have to be your own judge, jury, and rescue.
lyrics
O Lord my God, in You I put my trust Save me from all who pursue and persecute me Deliver me, lest they tear my soul like a lion Rending it in pieces with no one to rescue O Lord my God, if I have done this thing If there is iniquity staining my hands If I have repaid evil to one who was at peace with me Or harmed without cause the one who was my enemy— Let the pursuer overtake my soul Let him trample my life to the ground And lay my honor in the dust Selah Arise, O Lord, in Your anger Rise up against the fury of my enemies Awake for me to the judgment You have appointed So the assembly of the people will surround You For their sake, return on high The Lord will judge the peoples Judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness And according to the integrity within me Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end But establish the righteous For the righteous God searches hearts and minds My defense is from God Who saves the upright in heart God judges the righteous And God is angry with the wicked every day If he does not turn back He will sharpen His sword He has bent His bow and made it ready He has prepared for him the instruments of death He has ordained His arrows against the persecutors Behold, the wicked travails with iniquity He conceives mischief and brings forth falsehood He dug a pit and hollowed it out And he has fallen into the ditch he made His mischief will return upon his own head His violence will come down on his own crown I will praise the Lord according to His righteousness I will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High

Psalm 7: O Lord My God, In You I Trust
When you need to remember — that You're still my Shepherd.
What's Going On…
Sometimes it is not just pain — it is accusation. Somebody tells your story crooked, questions your motives, or paints you like the villain when you know what really happened. You start defending yourself in your head all day. You rehearse receipts, arguments, and the perfect response, but none of it gives you peace. You feel hunted, cornered, and tired of carrying your own case.
This is what it sounds like when you bring the whole case to God instead of drowning in self-defense. Urgent, honest, and unfiltered.
What It Means
David opens with pressure and trust in the same breath: "O Lord my God, in You I put my trust… deliver me, lest they tear my soul like a lion." He is not acting strong. He feels pursued. But before asking for justice, he also opens himself up: "If I have done this… let the pursuer overtake me." That is rare honesty — not just "clear my name," but "search me too."
Then the focus lifts from panic into perspective. God is not absent; God is Judge. "The righteous God searches hearts and minds." Evil is real, but it is not ultimate. The one who digs a pit can fall into it. David does not pretend the conflict is small — he just refuses to make people the final court. He leaves the verdict with God and ends in praise, not because everything is fixed, but because righteousness still belongs to the Lord Most High.
There is an image in the middle that still bites: "He digs a pit and makes it deep, and falls into the hole that he has made. His mischief returns on his own head." The trap circles back. Cruelty has a way of collecting on itself, and you do not have to be the one collecting. That does not mean you sit back and watch quietly — it means you stop carrying weight that was never yours to carry. The accusation, the spin, the self-defense loop running in your head while you try to fall asleep — none of it is the verdict. Hand the case up. Let the Judge be the judge.
Right Here, Right Now
• Right now, before you defend yourself to anyone, bring the situation to God in one blunt, honest prayer.
• Write this down: "Where do I need to be cleared — and where do I need to be corrected?"
• Repeat this line when your mind starts spiraling: "My defense is from God."
Selah
Stop. Breathe. Let these words stir where you feel falsely named, then tell Him the whole case without editing it.
Prayer
God, You know what is true, and You know how tired I am of carrying this.
I feel misunderstood and exposed, and I keep trying to defend myself in my own strength.
If there is anything crooked in me, show me and straighten it.
Where I am being falsely accused, defend me Yourself.
Judge what is real, silence what is false, and steady my heart in You.
You're still my Shepherd.
Stay Strong
You do not have to be your own judge, jury, and rescue.
