A dry and weary stretch can become where you follow Him hardest.
lyrics
O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You. My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and weary land where there is no water. To see Your power and Your glory, As I have seen You in the sanctuary. Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips will praise You. So I will bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; My mouth will praise You with joyful lips. When I remember You upon my bed And meditate on You in the night watches. Because You have been my help, Therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice. My soul follows hard after You; Your right hand upholds me. But those who seek my life to destroy it Will go down into the depths of the earth. They will fall by the sword; They will become a portion for foxes. But the king will rejoice in God; Everyone who swears by Him will glory, But the mouth of those who speak lies will be stopped.

Psalm 63: Early Will I Seek You
When you need to remember — that You're still my Shepherd.
What's Going On…
You can go through full days surrounded by noise and still feel empty. Your schedule is full, your mind is active, but your inner life feels thirsty in a way coffee, energy drinks, productivity, and distraction cannot fix.
At night, the ache gets clearer. You realize what you really miss is closeness with God. You want Him.
What It Means
This one starts with hunger on purpose: "My soul thirsts for You... in a dry and weary land where there is no water." He names spiritual dryness and reaches for God as the first need.
Then the center line reframes everything: "Your lovingkindness is better than life." That is survival truth. He remembers God in the night, rejoices under the shadow of His wings, and clings because God's right hand upholds him. The tone is both tender and strong: thirst turns into praise, and longing turns into steady attachment.
Notice how memory becomes nourishment here. "When I remember You upon my bed, and meditate on You in the night watches" — those middle-of-the-night hours that usually amplify fear become space for closeness instead. Then the satisfaction language gets bold: "My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness." He is asking for the deep. Worship under threat is named directly: "Because You have been my help, therefore in the shadow of Your wings will I rejoice." Past help opens present joy, even with enemies still in view. The closing hand of God is fierce and tender at once — He upholds the ones who follow hard after Him and silences mouths built on lies.
Right Here, Right Now
• Right now, put your phone down and give God the next few minutes — tell Him where you feel dry.
• Write this down: "What have I been using to numb thirst that only God can satisfy?"
• Repeat this line when your heart feels scattered: "My soul follows hard after You; Your right hand upholds me."
Selah
Stop. Breathe. Let the thirst in your soul be honest without shame, then tell Him exactly where you need fresh closeness — out loud if you can.
Prayer
God, I am thirsty for You in places I keep trying to fill with lesser things.
Meet me in this dry and weary stretch, and wake hunger for You that is deeper than my distractions.
Thank You that Your lovingkindness is better than life and stronger than my shifting emotions.
Help me seek You early, remember You at night, and stay close through every pressure of this day.
Hold me steady as I cling to You, because Your right hand is what keeps me.
You're still my Shepherd.
Stay Strong
A dry and weary stretch can become where you follow Him hardest.
