summary
Silence with God is where your soul finds its footing.
lyrics
Truly my soul waits in silence for God alone; From Him comes my salvation. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be greatly shaken. How long will you plot evil against a man? You will all be slain— Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence. They only consult to bring him down from his high place; They delight in lies. With their mouth they bless, But in their heart they curse. Selah. My soul, wait in silence for God alone, For my hope is from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him. God is our refuge. Selah. Surely men of low degree are but a breath, And men of high degree are a lie; Put them on the scales—they are altogether lighter than vanity. Trust not in oppression, And do not become vain in robbery; If riches increase, Do not set your heart on them.

Psalm 62: My Soul Waits in Silence for God Alone
When you need to remember — that You're still my Shepherd.
What's Going On…
You can feel pressure to react fast to everything. A message comes in, someone disappoints you, money worries rise, and your heart starts sprinting before your wisdom catches up. Silence feels impossible when anxiety keeps shouting.
You are tired of being emotionally yanked around by every voice, every opinion, every new fear. You want stability that is deeper than your circumstances and stronger than your stress response.
What It Means
This one repeats the same anchor on purpose: "My soul waits in silence for God alone... He alone is my rock and my salvation... I shall not be shaken." The repetition is medicine for a restless heart. He is talking to himself because trust has to be rehearsed.
It also names real betrayal and real pressure, but refuses to treat people, status, or money as ultimate safety. "Trust in Him at all times... pour out your heart before Him. God is our refuge." That is honest dependence. You pour out your heart, then you rest it on the Rock.
He widens the camera and weighs every counterfeit. "Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity." Influence cannot hold up a soul. Then comes the warning that makes most of us flinch: "If riches increase, set not your heart upon them." Money is allowed to grow; the heart is not allowed to migrate. Finally, the quiet weight of revelation lands: "God has spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongs unto God. Also unto You, O Lord, belongs mercy." Power and mercy meet in the same Person. That is why silent waiting is correctly placed trust.
Right Here, Right Now
• Take three minutes with no phone and no noise, and quietly pray: "My soul waits in silence for God alone."
• Write this down: "What have I been trusting to stabilize me besides God?"
• Repeat this line when your mind starts racing: "He alone is my rock and my salvation; I shall not be shaken."
Selah
Stop. Breathe. Let silence become trust instead of panic, then tell Him exactly what is making your heart restless — out loud if you can.
Prayer
God, my heart gets noisy fast, and I need Your quiet strength today.
Teach my soul to wait in silence for You instead of chasing instant relief.
You alone are my rock, my salvation, and my defense when everything feels unstable.
I pour out my heart before You — the fears, the pressure, the frustration, all of it.
Keep me from setting my trust on people, image, or money, and root me in You alone.
You're still my Shepherd.
Stay Strong
Silence with God is where your soul finds its footing.
