summary
He is round about His people the way the mountains are round about Jerusalem.
lyrics
They that trust in the Lord Shall be as mount Zion, Which cannot be removed, but abides forever. As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, So the Lord is round about His people From henceforth even forever. For the rod of the wicked shall not rest Upon the lot of the righteous, Lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity. Do good, O Lord, unto those that are good, And to them that are upright in their hearts. As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, The Lord shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity; But peace shall be upon Israel.

Psalm 125: The Lord Surrounds Us
When you need to remember — that You're still my Shepherd.
What's Going On…
You can spend a long stretch feeling exposed. Pressure from one side, criticism from another, low-grade anxiety humming underneath all of it. You manage by trying to handle each angle separately — but the truth is you cannot watch every direction at once, and the bracing is wearing you down.
You do not need better defenses. You need to remember that the Lord is round about His people the way mountains surround Jerusalem — not inside the wall, around the wall — and that being surrounded by Him is a different category of safe.
What It Means
This pilgrim prayer opens with a striking image of stability: "They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abides forever." Like the mountain itself. Immovable.
Then the picture this whole prayer is built around: "As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about His people from henceforth even forever." If you have ever stood in Jerusalem, you can see what he is doing — the city sits in the middle of a ring of hills. From any direction, you have to come down through mountains to reach it. That is what God's protection looks like — surrounding, not just from above.
Then the line that names a real comfort: "For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous, lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity." Wicked pressure does not get to rest on the righteous indefinitely — because if it did, even the righteous would crack. He limits the duration. The close balances mercy and judgment honestly: "Do good, O Lord, unto those that are good, and to them that are upright in their hearts. As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the Lord shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity; but peace shall be upon Israel."
Right Here, Right Now
• Right now, picture the actual mountains around Jerusalem and whisper: "So the Lord is round about His people from henceforth even forever."
• Write this down: "From which direction have I been bracing for danger that He has already surrounded?"
• Repeat this line when exposure rises: "As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about His people."
Selah
Stop. Breathe. Let the picture of God around you the way mountains stand around Jerusalem quiet the bracing, then tell Him exactly where you need His ring of protection — out loud if you can.
Prayer
God, those who trust in You shall be as Mount Zion, which cannot be removed.
You are round about Your people the way the mountains are round about Jerusalem — and I want to feel that today.
Do not let the rod of the wicked rest on me indefinitely; You know how thin I get.
Keep me upright in heart, and keep my hands from iniquity even when pressure has been steady.
Be peace upon me, the way You are peace upon Israel.
You're still my Shepherd.
Stay Strong
He is round about His people the way the mountains are round about Jerusalem.
