summary

Even when the foundations shake, the throne above you is still steady.

lyrics

In the Lord I put my trust
How can you say to my soul
“Flee like a bird to your mountain”?

For look—the wicked bend their bow
They fit their arrow to the string
To shoot in secret at the upright in heart

If the foundations are destroyed
What can the righteous do?

The Lord is in His holy temple
The Lord’s throne is in heaven
His eyes see all
His gaze examines the children of men

The Lord tests the righteous
But His soul hates the wicked
And the one who loves violence

He will rain down snares upon the wicked
Fire and brimstone, and a scorching wind
This will be the portion of their cup

For the righteous Lord loves righteousness
His face beholds the upright

Psalm 11: In the Lord I Put My Trust

When you need to remember — that You're still my Shepherd.

What's Going On…

Some days everything feels unstable all at once. The conversation, the pressure, the mood in the room, your own thoughts. It feels like somebody kicked out the floorboards and now everyone is telling you to run before it all collapses. Your chest tightens because fear starts sounding wise when the foundations feel cracked. You're not wrong for feeling the shake. This was written right in that tension: real danger, real fear, and still a decision to trust.

What It Means

It opens with a protest: "In the Lord I put my trust; how can you say to my soul, 'Flee as a bird to your mountain'?" That line hits when everybody has advice rooted in fear. David is not being reckless. He is saying trust has to be anchored somewhere deeper than the current emergency. Then the focus lifts your eyes: "The Lord is in His holy temple; the Lord's throne is in heaven." The wicked still bend their bows. The upright still feel exposed. But God is not absent and He is not scrambling. He sees. He tests. He judges what is true. This is not a promise that pressure disappears today. It is a call to stand steady because the throne has not moved. There is one more line that does not get rushed past: "The Lord tests the righteous." That word — tests — is uncomfortable. It says steady ground does not always feel like rescue from the shake; sometimes it feels like staying put while pressure does its slow work in you. The closing line lifts you again: "For the Lord is righteous, He loves righteous deeds; the upright shall behold His face." That is the quiet payoff. Not escape today. Not a fixed forecast. A face you will see, and a steadiness that holds while you wait to see it.

Right Here, Right Now

• Before the day runs away from you, say out loud: "In the Lord I put my trust." • Write this down: "What fear is trying to rush my next decision right now?" • Repeat this line when your thoughts start running: "The Lord's throne is in heaven."

Selah

Stop. Breathe. Let these words sit heavy for a minute. Then tell Him exactly where life feels unstable right now — out loud if you can.

Prayer

God, I feel how shaky things are and I want to run. Fear keeps telling me I need to panic to stay safe, and I keep listening to it. Teach me how to trust You without pretending this is easy. Settle me in what is true: You are still on the throne and You still see clearly. Help me stand upright in a crooked moment, one breath at a time. You're still my Shepherd.

Stay Strong

Even when the foundations shake, the throne above you is still steady.
