When pride gets loud, steady praise and humble trust keep your soul in the right place.

lyrics

We give thanks to You, O God,
We give thanks to You,
For Your name is near;
Your wondrous works declare it.

When I choose the appointed time,
I will judge with equity.
The earth and all its inhabitants are dissolved;
It is I who hold its pillars firm. Selah.

I said to the boastful, “Do not boast”;
To the wicked, “Do not lift up your horn.
Do not lift your horn on high;
Do not speak with a stiff neck.”

For exaltation comes not from the east,
Nor from the west, nor from the south.
But God is the judge;
He brings down one and exalts another.
For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup
With foaming wine, well mixed;
He pours it out,
And all the wicked of the earth
Will drain its dregs and drink them down.

But as for me, I will declare it forever;
I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
All the horns of the wicked I will cut off,
But the horns of the righteous will be lifted high.

Psalm 75: You are Just

When you need to remember — that You're still my Shepherd.

What's Going On…

You can feel frustrated when pride gets loud and humble faithfulness feels overlooked. People boast, self-promote, and act like they are untouchable, while you are trying to stay grounded and honest. It can make you wonder if power is just about who shouts the loudest. In that tension, your heart can drift toward envy or self-exaltation. You feel the urge to force outcomes because waiting feels slow.

What It Means

This one starts with gratitude before outcomes: "We give thanks... for Your name is near." That nearness matters when everything feels unstable. God speaks plainly: when the world seems dissolved, He still holds its pillars firm. Then comes a warning and a reset. The boastful are told to stop lifting themselves up, because exaltation does not come from human direction, strategy, or location. "God is the judge; He brings down one and exalts another." He sees pride, He handles wickedness, and He lifts righteousness in His time. The close is a choice: keep declaring His justice, keep praising, keep refusing the pride game. Two images linger here. The first is the cup: "In the hand of the Lord there is a cup, and the wine is red... He pours out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them." The cup of judgment is real, and it gets drunk to the bottom. The second is the horn — boasted strength named repeatedly, and each time God answers: "Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck." Pride sets you up to be cut down. The steady response is small and sturdy: "I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob."

Right Here, Right Now

• Right now, name one comparison or self-promotion rising in you, then pause and thank God that your future is in His just hands. • Write this down: "Where am I trying to force elevation instead of trusting God's timing?" • Repeat this line when impatience spikes: "God is the judge; He brings down one and exalts another."

Selah

Stop. Breathe. Let His justice and His timing settle the restless part of you, then tell Him exactly where pride, envy, or impatience has been pressing on you — out loud if you can.

Prayer

God, thank You that Your name is near even when everything feels unstable. Keep me from pride, comparison, and the need to prove myself in ways that dishonor You. Teach me to trust that You are just, and that You know when to humble and when to lift. Hold me steady while I wait for Your timing instead of grabbing for my own. Let my mouth stay full of praise while my heart stays low and anchored in You. You're still my Shepherd.

Stay Strong

When pride gets loud, steady praise and humble trust keep your soul in the right place.
