lyrics
My heart overflows with a good theme; I speak of the things I have composed concerning the King. My tongue is the pen of a ready writer. You are fairer than the children of men; Grace is poured upon Your lips; Therefore God has blessed You forever. Gird Your sword upon Your thigh, O Mighty One, In Your glory and Your majesty. In Your majesty ride forth victoriously For the cause of truth, humility, and righteousness; And Your right hand will teach You awesome deeds. Your arrows are sharp in the hearts of the King’s enemies; The peoples fall beneath You. Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; The scepter of Your kingdom is a righteous scepter. You love righteousness and hate wickedness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness above Your companions. All Your garments are fragrant with myrrh, aloes, and cassia; From ivory palaces stringed instruments make You glad. Daughters of kings are among Your honored women; At Your right hand stands the queen in gold of Ophir. Hear, O daughter, consider and incline your ear; Forget your own people and your father’s house. Then the King will desire your beauty; For He is your Lord—worship Him. The daughter of Tyre will come with a gift; The rich among the people will seek your favor. The King’s daughter is all glorious within; Her clothing is of fine woven gold. She will be brought to the King in robes of embroidered work; The virgins, her companions who follow her, Will be brought to You. With joy and gladness they will be led; They will enter the King’s palace. In place of your fathers, your sons will be; You will make them princes throughout all the earth. I will cause Your name to be remembered in all generations; Therefore the peoples will praise You forever and ever.

Psalm 45: The Mighty One
When you need to remember — that You're still my Shepherd.
What's Going On…
Most days the King you serve feels either distant or small. He gets reduced to a backup plan, a mood, a sermon point you half-remembered on Sunday. Then something breaks the static — a moment of real worship, a stretch of Scripture that hits different, a sudden awareness that He is actually on the throne — and your heart almost cannot hold it.
You do not want a tame version of Him anymore. You want to see Him clearly, the way those who encountered Him firsthand did — and let that reorder how you live.
What It Means
This one opens like a love letter written in awe: "My heart overflows with a good theme; I speak of the things I have composed concerning the King." The writer is not detached. His mouth cannot keep up with what his heart sees. He calls the King "fairer than the children of men" and says "grace is poured upon Your lips." That is beauty and favor and authority, all at once.
Then the tone shifts into warrior reverence: "Gird Your sword upon Your thigh, O Mighty One, in Your glory and Your majesty." He rides out for "truth, humility, and righteousness." Those are the things our world keeps trading away, and they are what His reign actually defends. Then the line that changes everything: "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; the scepter of Your kingdom is a righteous scepter." That is the King your heart was made to belong to. It finishes with the bride drawn in and the room full of joy — because where this King reigns, belonging and gladness follow.
One line stands quietly behind the rest: "You love righteousness, and hate wickedness: therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness above Your fellows." His gladness is the result of love and hatred lined up correctly. "All Your garments are fragrant with myrrh, aloes, and cassia." This is a King the room can smell when He walks in.
Right Here, Right Now
• Take a few minutes right now to worship on purpose — speak out loud one thing you see about Him that deserves more awe than you have been giving.
• Write this down: "Where have I been making Him smaller than He actually is?"
• Repeat this line when life starts flattening your view of Him: "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever."
Selah
Stop. Breathe. Let the picture of a truly righteous King sharpen in your mind, then tell Him exactly what your heart sees in Him — out loud if you can.
Prayer
God, my heart is too small for how great You actually are, and I feel that today.
You are fairer, kinder, and more righteous than anyone I have ever tried to lean on.
Ride out for truth and humility and righteousness in the places where lies keep winning.
Let me live like I actually belong to a throne that does not end.
I do not want a shrunken version of You — I want to see the Mighty One.
You're still my Shepherd.
Stay Strong
He is not a backup plan — He is the Mighty One whose throne never ends.
