Trouble may be real, but so is the God who stays near and delivers.
lyrics
I will bless the Lord at all times His praise shall continually be in my mouth My soul shall make her boast in the Lord The humble shall hear thereof and be glad O magnify the Lord with me And let us exalt His name together I sought the Lord, and He heard me And delivered me from all my fears They looked unto Him and were radiant And their faces were not ashamed This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him And saved him out of all his troubles The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him And delivers them O taste and see that the Lord is good Blessed is the one who trusts in Him O fear the Lord, you His saints For there is no want to those who fear Him The young lions lack and suffer hunger But they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing Come, you children, listen unto me I will teach you the fear of the Lord What man is he who desires life And loves many days, that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evil And your lips from speaking deceit Depart from evil and do good Seek peace and pursue it The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous And His ears are open unto their cry The face of the Lord is against those who do evil To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth The righteous cry, and the Lord hears And delivers them out of all their troubles The Lord is near to those who are of a broken heart And saves such as are of a contrite spirit Many are the afflictions of the righteous But the Lord delivers him out of them all He keeps all his bones Not one of them is broken Evil shall slay the wicked And those who hate the righteous shall be desolate The Lord redeems the soul of His servants And none of those who trust in Him shall be desolate

Psalm 34: Taste and See
When you need to remember — that You're still my Shepherd.
What's Going On…
You can know all the right truth and still feel stuck in fear. Your mind runs hot, your feet are heavy, and your prayers feel like empty words. You want peace, but trouble keeps showing up from different angles.
Then there are days your heart is just bruised, and all your strength is gone. You are tired, tender, and trying to believe God is still close in the middle of real pain.
What It Means
This one does not downplay trouble; it reframes it. The opening sets the tone: "I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear of it and be glad." Praise as a vow before circumstances cooperate. Then: "I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears." Not from every hard situation instantly, but from fear ruling you. It keeps repeating that He hears the cry and delivers, because you need that truth more than once.
Then comes the invitation: "O taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him." This is not theory. It is lived trust. The same passage says many afflictions still come, and still says the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. There is a quieter verse worth carrying: "The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them." Encamps. Sets up camp. Not visiting briefly. So praise is defiant confidence that God is present, listening, and redeeming. The kind of praise that does not need to wait for the danger to leave.
Right Here, Right Now
• Say out loud one fear you have been carrying, then ask God directly to deliver you from its grip.
• Write this down: "Where do I need to taste His goodness instead of just talk about it?"
• Repeat this line when anxiety rises: "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted."
Selah
Stop. Breathe. Let His nearness settle in the place that feels most fragile, then tell Him exactly where you feel afraid or broken right now — out loud if you can.
Prayer
God, I am bringing You my fear instead of hiding it again.
Thank You that You hear me when I cry and do not turn away from my trouble.
Come near to my broken places and steady me where I feel shaken.
Teach me to taste Your goodness in real time, not just remember it in hindsight.
Redeem what hurts, calm what panics, and keep my praise honest and alive today.
You're still my Shepherd.
Stay Strong
Trouble may be real, but so is the God who stays near and delivers.
