summary
The everlasting kingdom keeps an open hand — declare His mighty acts in your generation.
lyrics
I will extol You, my God, O King; And I will bless Your name for ever and ever. Every day will I bless You; And I will praise Your name for ever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; And His greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts. I will speak of the glorious honour of Your majesty, And of Your wondrous works. And men shall speak of the might of Your terrible acts; And I will declare Your greatness. They shall abundantly utter the memory of Your great goodness, And shall sing of Your righteousness. The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; Slow to anger, and of great mercy. The Lord is good to all; And His tender mercies are over all His works. All Your works shall praise You, O Lord; And Your saints shall bless You. They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom, And talk of Your power, To make known to the sons of men His mighty acts, And the glorious majesty of His kingdom. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And Your dominion endures throughout all generations. The Lord upholds all that fall, And raises up all those that be bowed down. The eyes of all wait upon You; And You give them their meat in due season. You open Your hand, And satisfy the desire of every living thing. The Lord is righteous in all His ways, And holy in all His works. The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, To all that call upon Him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear Him; He also will hear their cry, and will save them. The Lord preserves all them that love Him; But all the wicked will He destroy. My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord; And let all flesh bless His holy name for ever and ever.

Psalm 145: Your Mighty Works
When you need to remember — that You're still my Shepherd.
What's Going On…
You can be living off thin praise — small, polite gratitude, the kind that gets squeezed in between tasks and never really stretches. You believe He is good. You just have not let yourself sit long enough to feel the size of the goodness. Meanwhile your soul has gone quiet on Him in the way a generation can go quiet on a story — not by erasing it, by failing to retell it.
You do not need a bigger week. One generation is supposed to praise His works to another, and yours is the generation that has to declare His mighty acts before the next one inherits silence.
What It Means
This is the long, steady hymn of someone who has decided to praise Him on purpose. "I will extol You, my God, O King; and I will bless Your name for ever and ever. Every day will I bless You." Every day. He is locking in a habit, not a mood. And: "One generation shall praise Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts." Your job is to retell.
Then the description that holds: "The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. The Lord is good to all; and His tender mercies are over all His works." Slow to anger. Good to all. The mercy is over all His works.
Then how He sustains the world: "Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom... The Lord upholds all that fall, and raises up all those that be bowed down. The eyes of all wait upon You; and You give them their meat in due season. You open Your hand, and satisfy the desire of every living thing." Open hand. Every living thing fed. And He is close: "The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth." The bar is honesty.
Right Here, Right Now
• Right now, pause and bless His name out loud — slowly: "I will extol You, my God, O King; and I will bless Your name for ever and ever."
• Write this down: "What mighty act of His have I forgotten to declare to the people coming up behind me?"
• Repeat this line when the day flattens your praise back into something polite: "The eyes of all wait upon You; and You give them their meat in due season."
Selah
Stop. Breathe. Let His open hand satisfying the desire of every living thing widen the small praise you have been offering, then tell Him exactly what you want to extol Him for today — out loud if you can.
Prayer
God, I will extol You, my God, O King — and I will bless Your name for ever and ever; every day, not just the good ones.
You are gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and of great mercy; Your tender mercies are over all Your works, including the one I am living right now.
You uphold all that fall and raise up all those that be bowed down — and I am one of the bowed-down ones some days, and Your hand is what is keeping me upright.
You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing — open it again over the desire I have been carrying that I have not even said out loud to You yet.
You are nigh unto all them that call upon You in truth — I am calling, and I want to call honestly; hear my cry, and save.
You're still my Shepherd.
Stay Strong
The everlasting kingdom keeps an open hand — declare His mighty acts in your generation.
