lyrics

I have done justice and righteousness;
Do not leave me to my oppressors.
Be surety for Your servant for good;
Let not the proud oppress me.

My eyes fail for Your salvation
And for the word of Your righteousness.
Deal with Your servant according to Your mercy,
And teach me Your statutes.
I am Your servant;
Give me understanding,
That I may know Your testimonies.

It is time for You, O Lord, to act,
For they have made void Your law.
Therefore I love Your commandments
Above gold, yes, above fine gold.
Therefore I esteem all Your precepts concerning all things to be right,
And I hate every false way.

Psalm 119P: Act O Lord

When you need to remember — that You're still my Shepherd.

What's Going On…

You can watch the rules God set up be ignored — laws in His Word being voided in the way people live, talk, lead — until you reach the point where the only honest prayer left is: "It is time for You to act." You are asking Him to do what only He can do, because the situation has gotten beyond what any human intervention will fix. You do not need a louder protest. You need to bring the situation to the One whose law has been disrespected, and ask Him to move.

What It Means

This section opens with someone who has tried to live cleanly: "I have done justice and righteousness; do not leave me to my oppressors. Be surety for Your servant for good; let not the proud oppress me." He is naming his innocence in this specific case while asking God to stand surety for him. Then the honest exhaustion of waiting: "My eyes fail for Your salvation and for the word of Your righteousness. Deal with Your servant according to Your mercy, and teach me Your statutes. I am Your servant; give me understanding, that I may know Your testimonies." Eyes failing. Asking for both deliverance and deeper understanding of Him in the same breath. Then the line that names the hinge: "It is time for You, O Lord, to act, for they have made void Your law." That is a holy summons. Not "could You consider helping" — "it is time." The reason is not personal: they have voided Your law. He is calling on God's reputation, not his own. The close lifts what he treasures: "Therefore I love Your commandments above gold, yes, above fine gold. Therefore I esteem all Your precepts concerning all things to be right, and I hate every false way." When the world voids the law, he doubles down on loving it.

Right Here, Right Now

• Right now, name one specific situation where God's truth is being voided around you — and pray: "It is time for You, O Lord, to act." • Write this down: "Where have I been waiting politely when His Word is being disrespected?" • Repeat this line when injustice goes unanswered: "It is time for You, O Lord, to act."

Selah

Stop. Breathe. Let the holy summons of "It is time" replace the politeness of asking, then tell Him exactly where you need Him to move — out loud if you can.

Prayer

God, it is time for You to act — and I am bringing this to You instead of carrying it alone any longer. You see how they have voided Your law and how my eyes have been failing waiting for Your salvation. Be surety for Your servant; deal with me according to Your mercy. Teach me Your statutes even while I wait, and give me understanding I will need on the other side. Let me love Your commandments above gold while the world treats them like dust. You're still my Shepherd.

Stay Strong

"It is time for You, O Lord, to act" is still the prayer He honors.
